International Immuno-Oncology Biomarker Working Group on Breast Cancer

Over the past few years, Roberto Salgado, Sherene Loi and Carsten Denkert have developed the International Immuno-Oncology Biomarker Working Group on Breast Cancer, with members including expert clinical research groups, pathologists, clinicians and statisticians worldwide currently knowledgeable in the field of Immune-oncology Biomarkers. The purpose of this Working Group is to develop, in a timely manner, standards on the assessment of Immuno-Oncology Biomarkers to aid pathologists, clinicians and researchers in their research and daily practice. The group has worldwide representatives of known clinical research groups from high level expert centers across all continents (US, EU, the Middle East and Japan) like the MD Andersen Cancer Center (US), Weill Cornell University (US and Qatar), Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (US), Dana Farber Cancer Institute (US), Peter Mac Callum Cancer Center (Aus), Insitut Gustave Roussy (EU), European Institute of Oncology in Milan (EU), Jules Bordet (EU), National Cancer Institute, Lima (South America), etc..
Since the Working Group hosts expert research teams it is the perfect place to establish collaborations between group members. The member list will include the research interest of each group member. Importantly, we don’t expect each member to share publicly the details of their own projects as we respect each group’s confidentiality policies.
This group is an informal pathologist-driven group, so pathologists with interest and expertise to join the mailing-list are welcome.

The Working Group meets once yearly at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Conference, which is a meeting prioritized for pathologists.
The Core Group of the Working Group meets once yearly at ASCO to discuss the progress and define the priorities.
